| Manhattan Business of the Year |
The Business of the Year award for 2008 was presented to Berkot’s Super Foods. Berkot’s Super Foods is family owned and operated. All the employees are members of the communities in which they do business. Berkot’s is very dedicated to the communities they serve. They support many local organizations such as the Manhattan Foundation for Educational Excellence, Manhattan Baseball and Softball, Lincoln-Way Music Booster’s Organization, Manhattan Cub Scout Pack 155, Manhattan Fun Days, TRIP (Tuition Reduction Incentive Program) and Wishing Well, which provides services for individuals with developmental disabilities, to name a few. Berkot’s has seven locations and is owned by Mr. John Kotara.

| Manhattan Citizen of the Year |
The citizen of the year for 2008 was awarded to Donna (DJ) Chellios. Donna is a volunteer for Operation Care Package. She organized the 2007 Fun Days and is presently working on 2008. She is an active member of the Manhattan Chamber of Commerce, Merchant Committee, United Methodist Church and a current board member of the church. Donna is also on the First Bank of Manhattan’s Trip Advisory Committee for the Prime Time Club. She was in involved in getting merchants and residents to fly their flags. She is a past member of the Manhattan Fire Departments Ladies Auxiliary. Donna and her husband Bill have been married for 48 years. They own a business in Manhattan, DMW Sales.
