Manhattan Chamber of Commerce Meeting Minutes
Meeting was held in Person at Village Hall.
August 10, 2021


Present: Kevin Molloy, Donna Bateman, Kristy Byers, Becky Bouck, Brittany Rojek, Joe Cerullo, Kevin Sing, Shari Fiocca, along with administrative assistant Mandie Wade.
The meeting was called to order at 3:31pm.


Treasurer’s Report for July: Shari motioned to approve the report and Kristy seconded the motion. Motion carried.
Secretary’s Report for July: Becky motioned to approve the report and Kevin S. seconded the motion. Motion carried.
Administrative Assistant’s Report for July: Total Membership as of August-86. So far, 14 applications have been submitted for both the Labor Day Parade as well as Ladies Night out. 17 applicants have signed up so far for the August Craft Fair. 36 Banners have been sold and have room for a total of 40 banners.
Business Card Books: Still have books that will need to be put together for Craft shows and Ladies night Out. Becky, Donna, Brittany and Mandie have volunteered to put these together. Ladies night out should have at least 100 business card books and the craft show should have 50 business card books to be passed out to guests of these events.
Banner Renewal: Forms and Emails have been sent out to all chamber members informing them that it’s time to renew the banners. Deadline to submit the renewal form was July 31, 2021.
Ladies Night Out: Headed by Kristy. Will take place in the Time Square Parking lot on September 1st. Vendors will need to bring their own tables. Set up will begin at 5pm and the event will run from 5:30-7:00. Participation flyers have been mailed out to all Chamber members. Three prizes will be given out at this event. There will be a total of three Chamber raffle winners.
Craft Show: The last craft show of the year will take place on August 28th. Becky will be there for set up and during the morning and Joe will be there in the afternoon and for take down.
Oktoberfest: Headed by Kevin M. Event will take place on October 9th pending covid restrictions. Event will be very family oriented and potentially offer a 5k run, hay rides, hay maze, food trucks, bonfire (with the Fire Chief’s approval), face painting, craft fair, petting zoo, games, and potentially a pub crawl to and from Fritz’s, Gallaghers, Wine bar and Road House 52. Tractor pull will be added for the 2022 Oktoberfest list of events. Mandie will check on Music possibilities for this year’s event. To help offset costs, the possibility of charging for a wrist band was discussed as well as sponsorships. More details will be provided at the next board meeting after the Oktoberfest committee has finalized the plans for the event.
Fun Day events: Fireworks will be held at Manhattan Jr High courtesy of the Village of Manhattan and the Chamber of Commerce. Events that will be provided free of charge are inflatables, a Magician, an inflatable obstacle course, balloon animals, and a DJ. There will also be food and beer will be available for purchase at the event. Beginning in November, the Chamber will start selling Super Bowl Squares to raise money for the 2022 firework show.
Fun Day Parade: Headed by Donna. Kevin M. Candy is allowed to be passed out during the parade, Request to close down 52 for parade has been sent to IDOT.
Luncheon: Chamber will begin having monthly Luncheons again for our Chamber members beginning August 18th. The August Luncheon we will discuss all of the upcoming events. These will be held on the third Wednesday of each month beginning at 12pm. They will last approximately one hour and lunch will be provided to those members that are in attendance. A different guest speaker will also attend each month.
Chamber Board Meetings: Meetings will be held in person at the Village Hall on the Second Tuesday of every month. Zoom will also be available for members who are unable to attend in person. Annual Member Dinner: Dinner will be on November 16th beginning at approximately 5 pm. Gattos in New Lenox has been reserved for this event.
Chamber Board Elections: Board members terms that will expire in November 2021 are Becky, Joe, Donna and Kevin S. Voting for new board members will take place at the annual member dinner. When the new board has begun their term, the chamber board will have a strategic planning session that will last approximately 3-4 hours. During this time, all of the events will be planned for the upcoming year and committees for each event will be formed at this time as well.
Meeting was adjourned at 5:10pm. Next Board Meeting will be on September 14th at
3:30pm at the Village Hall.
