Manhattan Chamber of Commerce Meeting Minutes
Meeting was held both in Person at Village Hall and Via Zoom.
July 13, 2021


Present: Kevin Molloy, Donna Bateman, Kristy Byers, Becky Bouck, Brittany Rojek, Joe Cerullo, along with administrative assistant Mandie Wade.
The meeting was called to order at 3:40pm.
Business Card Books: Still have books that will need to be put together for Craft shows and Ladies night Out. Becky, Donna and Mandie have volunteered to put these together. Ladies night out should have at least 100 business card books and the craft show should have 50 business card books to be passed out to guests of these events.
Banner Renewal: Forms and Emails have been sent out to all chamber members informing them that it’s time to renew the banners. Deadline to submit the renewal form is July 31, 2021.
Ladies Night Out: Headed by Kriisty. Will take place in the Time Square Parking lot on September 1st. Vendors will need to bring their own tables. Participation flyers have been mailed out to all Chamber members. Three prizes will be given out at this event. First place Prize: $250, Second Place Prize: $150, Third Place prize: $50.
Craft Show: Will be monthly. The Chamber will have a table at this event and will need volunteers to assist in setting up, taking down, and handing out business card books and upcoming event flyers.
Upcoming events that will be featured on these flyers will be Ladies Night out and Oktoberfest. The next craft show is August 24th. Mandie will set up, Kristy will be there at 10am to assist with passing items out. August Craft Show Joe and Becky have volunteered to assist with.
Oktoberfest: Headed by Kevin M. Event will be very family oriented and potentially offer a 5k run, hay rides, pony rides, hay maze, bonfire (with the Fire Chief’s approval), face painting, craft fair,rides, and a golf cart show. Tractor pull will be added for the 2022 Oktoberfest list of events. Mandie will check on Music possibilities for this year’s event. To help offset costs, the possibility of charging for a wrist band was discussed as well as sponsorships. More details will be provided at the next board meeting after the Oktoberfest committee has finalized the plans for the event.
Fireworks: The Village will be in charge of Fireworks for the Fun Day. Beginning in November, the Chamber will start selling Super Bowl Squares to raise money for a firework show in 2022 that will be put on by the Manhattan Chamber.
Fun Day Parade: Headed by Donna. Kevin M. Will be securing a stage for the event. The grand Marshall for event suggestion is the Mayor and suggestion for speaker is Mr. Pacheco. Confirmation from both for their participation will be provided by Kevin and Mandy at the August Board meeting.
Luncheon: Chamber will begin having monthly Luncheons again for our Chamber members beginning in August. The August Luncheon we will discuss all of the upcoming events. These will be held on the third Wednesday of each month beginning at 12. They will last approximately one hour and lunch will be provided to those members that are in attendance. A different guest speaker will also attend each month.
Chamber Board Meetings: Meetings will be held in person at the Village Hall on the Second Tuesday of every month. Zoom will also be available for members who are unable to attend in person.
Annual Member Dinner: Tentative date is November 3rd. Possible location for dinner is Gattos in New Lenox since they are a new member of the Chamber and are able to accommodate all chamber members.
Chamber Board Elections: Board members terms that will expire in November 2021 are Becky, Joe,
Donna and Kevin S. Voting for new board members will take place at the annual member dinner. When the new board has begun their term, the chamber board will have a strategic planning session that will last approximately 3-4 hours. During this time, all of the events will be planned for the upcoming year and committees for each event will be formed at this time as well.
Round Table Meetings: This will be canceled effective immediately due to poor attendance.
PayPal: The Chamber will move PayPal from a personal account to a business account and register it under the Manhattan Chamber.
Cell Phone: This bill will also be put under a business account under the Manhattan Chamber.
