Lincolnway Special Recreation Association
Lincolnway Special Recreation Association (LWSRA) provides services for individuals with disabilities through a cooperative agreement with their seven-member park districts consisting of Frankfort, Frankfort Square, Manhattan, Mokena, New Lenox, Peotone and Wilmington. And LWSRA now has special agreements with Homer Glen Township and the Village of Monee.
LWSRA's passionate and dedicated staff provides over 200 programs each year ranging from Special Olympic and Paralympic team sports to social events like monthly dances, cooking programs, drama, zumba, summer camp and an adult day program. In March, 2014, LWSRA opened its' recreation center in the Heather Glen subdivision in New Lenox. The facility is fully accessible in order to accommodate our participants with special needs.
Programs are designed for individuals, preschool through adult, who have recreational needs that are not met by regular park district programs. We believe involvement in recreational activities is a vital component to a healthy leisure lifestyle and LWSRA's 368 participants are enthusiastic and eager to be involved in programs that will enhance their quality of life. Participants of LWSRA's programs not only have fun, but make friends, increase physical activity, enjoy new experiences, and refine social and life skills.
