Shari called the meeting to order at 3:34 pm. Kevin moved and Joe seconded a motion to approve the October minutes. Motion carried. Donna’s treasurer’s report showed a checking account balance of $11,890.47. Kevin moved and Joe seconded a motion to approve the report. Motion carried. Donna asked permission to deposit one current check into savings in order to avoid dormancy. The group agreed.
Membership: Peggy reported that we have 88 members with the new member Brittany Rojek of White Wave Properties. Southside Tobacco and Vape is also joining.
Christmas on State: Peggy showed samples of the flyers for the Gingerbread House Decorating Contest co-sponsored with the library, Letters to Santa, Christmas on State evening activities and Christmas on State all activities. The parade time will remain at 5:45 pm as previously published. Peggy will change the flyers to reflect the board’s suggestions. All members’ activities that day will be listed if it reflects something to do or to be seen. Scavenger Hunt cards will be available after Dec. 1 in the schools’ Virtual Backpack as well as Chamber website and at the banks.
Letters to Santa: Kristy, Tim and Mary Kay will help answer the letters. Kristy will remove them from the mailbox in Time Square.
Kristy will contact Jen Hannon to get help from Lincoln-Way’s Drama Club for characters.
Light up Manhattan: Will be considered for next year. Getting the businesses on board, liability wavers, measurements of feet of lights needed and connections to electricity need to be started in June to get the project finished by Dec.
Scavenger Hunt: Kristy, Shari and Mary Kay will assist with collecting the Scavenger Hunt cards at the Hansen Center between 3 and 4:15. Two cash prizes of $50 will be awarded. Last year Scavenger Hunt cards were folded and used for the drawing instead of tickets for each signature. Most cards were fully completed cards. Those with only a few signed businesses were not included in the drawing.
Parade: Tim will assist with the Parade. The Park District will be encouraged to get Santa to the Fire Station.
Networking Luncheon: The next luncheon will be on Wed. November 20 at 11:45 am at Fitness Premier’s Corporate Office next to Rosattis. It is not physically connected to the gym. Joe will pick up the beef and potato wedges from Berkots. RSVP will be by Friday. The December 18 luncheon will be a meet and greet or Christmas social at Midtown Wine Bar.
Annual Dinner: The event held at Kat’s had an excellent turnout of about 48 and the food was good. The two drawbacks were that it was crowded leaving little standing room for socializing and the high noise level.
New Board Member: The first vote resulted in a three-way tie. After a revote, Joe Cerullo will be installed as the eighth board member. The other three will be asked to be Ambassadors and play specific roles. Joe Regan, since he is retiring from the board, has agreed to continue on as the Networking Luncheon Ambassador. Shari will notify the candidates of the voting results.
Officers 2020: Kevin moved and Kristy seconded a motion to accept the officers for next year as the same as this year. Motion carried. Therefore, Shari will continue as president, Kevin as vice-president, Mary Kay as secretary and Donna as treasurer. Kristy will again be the scholarship chairperson.
By-laws: An official vote will be taken at the next meeting once all can review if they cover the situations that we encountered the last two years with additional candidates instead of the usual shortage of candidates.
Ribbon Cuttings: The group was reminded of Friday’s opening of Allstate at 10:30 and Monday Nov. 18 at 4:30 at Southside Tobacco and Vape. Both are in the Rt. 52 strip mall north of town.
The next meeting will be December 10 at 3:30 pm in the Chamber office.
The meeting was adjourned at 4:24 pm
